The Fire Service and police officers were in attendance at Torryburn in West Fife after another whale became stranded in the Forth.
The 15ft minke whale was found on the beach near Torryburn at around 7.30am on 6 September 2013.
The animal was reported to be in distress and firefighters were attempting to pour water over the animal to keep its skin from cracking. Rescuers were not hopeful for a successful outcome, given the high tide needed to float the animal again wasn’t due until 4pm. The decision was taken to put the animal down because of its suffering.
