Permission being sought to erect windfarm in Forth

Turbine developer 2-B Energy has applied for planning permission to erect two turbines at its Forthwind project in the Firth of Forth.

The firm hopes its windfarm of up to nine turbines will be operational by next summer.

The company, which is based in Aberdour’s Boathouse offices at Silver Sands and has offices in the Netherlands, has submitted a scoping report with Marine Scotland to erect a further seven turbines.

Scott Harper, commercial manager at 2-B, said: “We need to see if Marine Scotland require more detail from us for this scoping report.

“Once that process is completed then we will begin working on gaining planning permission.” Should consent be given then 2-B is hopeful that the seven additional turbines would be in place by 2020.

“It’s a chance for us to demonstrate our new offshore wind technology and the Forth is the ideal location.

“Obviously we will hold public consultations nearer the time and all the information that people will want will be mapped out in due course.”
