Blairhall residents have a unique chance to shape their area’s future by taking part in the Coalfields Community Futures Family Fun Day in the New Community Centre in Wilson Street, from 11am until 2pm on Saturday, November 26.
The Coalfields Regeneration Trust has supported the local Steering Group as it conducted a major household survey and interviewed local groups, including businesses, voluntary organisations and young people, to find out what they think will make the area a better place to live, work and visit.
The CRT is also providing a £25,000 participatory budget to get key projects off the ground.
Now local people will have the chance to vote for their favourite proposals, have a say in which organisations share the CRT’s £25,000 budget.
Their input will help make a success of the five-year Community Action Plan which the Steering Group will draw up over the next few months.
Bob Young Scottish Trustee of the Coalfields Regeneration Trust said: “The real strength of our Coalfields Community Futures Programme is that it gives the people of Blairhall the chance to decide for themselves what local priorities should be.
“I would urge as many local residents as possible to grasp this opportunity to have their say in shaping a Community Action plan which will help the area grow and thrive over the next five years”.
The organisers plan to have something for everyone at the Family Fun day with the local Guides serving up kebabs, and a number of local organisations and community groups taking stalls at the event.
